And because we do this?
may be a good question, or maybe not, but we wanted to answer it. So we asked Diego Villaroel, co "The Walsh" race group of Arts Faculty of Philosophy and Letters with whom we have shaped the "Student Broad Front," you write something, with the plan the Tolkien last year and this one too. And here it is:

Why open the field of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters to an activity such as meeting Association annual Tolkien Argentina, from a front left is trying to answer the question here.
And this attempt at an answer has to do with some criticism that I'm outdated, I confess, a little tired of hearing, for example:
1) How can you like Tolkien was a facho? Note that the good are beautiful and bright and the bad guys are ugly and dark.
2) How can you read heroic fantasy, a genre which is quite small bourgeois? Both ends with the return of a king. What ails you, you turned royalist suddenly?
Well, let's go by parts. The Lord of the Rings, which is part of what is known as the fantasy genre (whether epic or heroic fantasy), at first sight is true that good and evil are pretty ugly. But only at first sight. Let's see:
The main enemy, the most powerful, the Dark Lord is a Maiar (a Lesser God), whose main virtue is to plan long term and lie close to the truth talking. So much so that to get another Maiar, the Istari, or magician Saruman (and head of its order), pass to his side. Is called Saruman, Saruman the White, but then admitirá ser “multicolor”.
Y por ello estas razas están representadas the Society of the nine whose mission is to destroy the ring. And here is to highlight certain aspects: the relationship between elves and dwarves is not exactly friendly, the hobbits never worried about the problems of the rest of the world between two humans present in the company there is a certain rivalry, while Boromir, son The steward of Gondor is likely to use the ring to defeat the Dark Lord, Strider is in favor of destroying it. Moreover, Strider is none other than the rightful heir to the kingdom of Gondor, and thus their relationship is not as it should be friendly (for the jealousy that this results in Boromir).
Aragorn king in a self-imposed exile, deserves a more, as Ranger has desempeñad0o lifetime (about 70 or 80 years) battling the minions of Sauron, and thus protecting the lives of the people of peace.
Finally, you can not fail to mention Gandalf, leader of the company, and therefore Maiar Istari, which in the Silmarillion it is said that his name was Olórin, was Maiar learned wisdom and piety Nienna next (ie, the companion of the god who takes care of the souls of the dead-shifters, "and goddess of compassion). Gandalf the Grey appears as a venerable old man at times and always terrible. May be majestic at times, but can hardly be attributed to the nickname of "beautiful."
As seen, with little digging, the dichotomy good and beautiful, horrible, evil versus fall off. And, while the two main forces, besides their own merit, of course, that determine who gets the goal Frodo destroy the One is the wisdom of Gandalf and love (in the form of loyalty at all) by Sam, hardly can sustain the argument of fascism in the work.
And as Aragorn reaches height, while King, one might well argue that it has symbolic value. That is: The Lord of the Rings is set in a medieval type era in which the King is responsible for maintaining order. And keeping order means peace, driving on the roads without risk of losing their lives in ensuring justice, etc. This is Aragorn, for that prepares all his life. And that is one of the few in the company of nine can enjoy the fruits of the feat. For Boromir dies, and Gandalf, Legolas and Frodo must leave the world for which they fought. Sam lost with the departure of Frodo to his best friend, but finds solace in his family. And in regard to Merry and Pippin, they have also been changed by their experiences, which have, in their cases, an obvious physical correlate.
Then, most heroes do not enjoy the sweetness of success. And when that happens, that pleasure comes with great responsibility where is the support of the position that syndicates "The Lord of the Rings" as a work petit bourgeois?
But besides all this, there are many who believe (or believe) the Lord of the Rings as a monumental work. And since a single counterexample is sufficient to overthrow a paradigm, the classification of minor genre that is labeled with the fantasy genre is excluded. This is another reason why Tolkien takes place at the academy. And so too, is better than a leftist movement is helping to organize an event of this nature.
Finally, yes, we love reading Tolkien. Does that makes us freaks? We will be freaks, then. And proud.
